Description 
 
The FGD5/6-IR Infrared Flammable Gas Detector is a direct replacement for existing Catalytic 'Pellistor' type sensors heads used typically with the oil and gas industries. 
 
Unless otherwise requested, the FGD5/6-IR is set during manufacture to provide an output signal of 20mV per % volume methane. However, it can be configured to provide an output signal of between 15 and 30mV per % volume methane. This enables it to simulate the output from the various pellistor types currently in use. 
 
In order for the FGD5/6-IR to simulate the wide range of pellistor types in use, the voltage output type has two different operating current versions available:- 
 
Type 200 version - having a nominal 200mA operational setting. This version has a typical current range from 160 to 250mA. This unit is stamped '200' on its top rim. 
Type 300 version - having a nominal 300mA operational setting. This version has a typical current range from 250 to 350mA. This unit is stamped '300' on its top rim. 
 
In order to comply with the certification requirements, the gas detector must be installed and terminated into a suitable Ex d flameproof junction box. 
 
Plug-in Sampling Adaptor 
A plug-in sampling adaptor is available for applications where no weather guard is fitted. This can be used in two ways:- 
 
Routine gas testing - where a known test gas sample is temporarily applied to the FGD5/6-IR to confirm its operation. 
Sampling systems - where the plug-in adaptor is permanently connected to the FGD5/6-IR and gas samples are drawn through sample tubes.
